Catering a Nottingham wedding
A wedding is three catering jobs wearing one dress. There is the reception, where people are standing with a drink and need something to hold; the wedding breakfast, which is the sit-down meal; and the evening, when a second wave of guests arrives and the first wave discovers it is hungry again.
We price those separately on purpose. A couple spending carefully can put the money into the wedding breakfast and keep the reception to grazing boards at £97.00 a crate; a couple who want the reception to be the moment can do canapés on trays and a hog roast later. Bundling all three into one per-head figure hides which part you are actually paying for.
Nottingham is helpful for this because the venues are close together and close to us. Newstead Abbey, Papplewick, Bestwood and the country houses out towards Southwell are all a short run, which means an unhurried setup.
What actually goes wrong at weddings
Timing, almost always. The photographs overrun, the speeches run long, and food that was ready at six is served at seven. We build in the slack and we would rather be told the day is running late than discover it. Tell the coordinator to ring us.
The other one is numbers. Evening guests are the hardest headcount at any event because plenty of them are ‘maybes’ until the week before. Final numbers are confirmed seven days out and you can move them freely until then, which is designed around exactly this.
Where we cater weddings around Nottingham
The city and out through West Bridgford, Beeston, Wollaton, Arnold, Ruddington and Bramcote, and north to Papplewick, Linby and Newstead.
Country houses, hotels, marquees in gardens, village halls, cricket and rugby clubs. If your venue has no kitchen, say so: most of the ones we work in do not, and we plan for it.

We deliver across West Bridgford, Beeston, Wollaton, Arnold, Ruddington, Bramcote, Papplewick and Newstead, everywhere between them, and a good way beyond. If you are not sure whether we reach you, ring the office and ask. The answer is usually yes.

The rooms around the city
Newstead Abbey, Papplewick Pumping Station, Bestwood Lodge and the country houses nearby are all within easy reach, and we have catered at them.
The evening buffet is not an afterthought
It is the bit guests remember being hungry at. Sandwiches, savouries, hot food or a grazing table, ordered on the evening headcount from £5.50.
Tastings before you commit

What Nottingham customers say
4.9 out of 5 from 210+ Google reviews
Sadlergates did the catering for our wedding in Nottingham and we couldn’t have been happier… There was plenty of food and they were really good at dealing with our complex dietary requirements. On the day of the wedding they turned up exactly on time, prepped the food and brought it all out with excellent communication so we knew when to get everyone seated.
Beth · Wedding
Fantastic food and service from Sadlergates Catering Nottingham for a Celebration of Life event. They were so lovely to deal with and there were many compliments about the sandwich buffet on the day. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them for catering an event.
Hester · Celebration of life
Sadlergate were outstanding from start to finish when catering our Christmas event. The festive buffet was of a very high standard providing three different meats and also veggie options. Shaun and Vicky were incredible throughout the evening, ensuring everything ran seamlessly and taking care of every detail.

We have catered Nottingham since 2012. If you have a date in mind, the earlier we know it the more likely it is still free.
Wedding catering in Nottingham, your questions answered
Do you cater at Newstead Abbey and Papplewick?
Both, and they are close enough to the kitchen that the setup is unhurried. Tell us the venue when you enquire and we will confirm what works in the space.
How far in advance should we book wedding catering?
Summer Saturdays go a year ahead and sometimes further. Midweek and off-season dates are far easier and we can often help at a few months’ notice. Ring with the date and we will tell you what is free.
Can we taste the food first?
Yes. Tell us what you are considering and we will arrange a tasting: it is the fastest way to settle a menu argument, and it is a great deal easier than deciding from a description.
What about the evening guests?
An evening buffet from £5.50 a head is the usual answer, ordered for the evening headcount. Plenty of couples add savouries at £7.70 for a later finish.
Can you cater the whole day?
Yes: canapés during the reception, a hot buffet or hog roast for the wedding breakfast, and an evening buffet later. Each is priced separately so you can spend where it shows.
How do you handle dietary requirements at a wedding?
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and halal portions are prepared separately and labelled. Tell us how many of each when you book. Give us the numbers with your final count and those plates are made and labelled separately, not adapted on the night.
What deposit do you need?
25% holds the date, with the balance due 30 days before. Final numbers are confirmed seven days out and you can move them freely until then.
