ABOUT BUFFET CATERING
Four kinds of buffet, and they are not interchangeable
"Buffet" covers four quite different things, and picking the wrong one is the most common way an event's food disappoints. What decides it is not taste — it is whether people are sitting down, how long they are there, and whether there is anywhere to plug anything in.
A cold buffet is the workhorse: sandwiches and savouries on covered platters, no kitchen needed at your end, and completely indifferent to whether the event moves indoors. It is what most offices, wakes, christenings and parties actually want.
A hot buffet needs a service point and a room that will settle to eat. It is far better received between October and March, and at a warm July evening it fights the room.
Finger buffets and sharing boards are for standing events where people have one hand free — receptions, networking, drinks. Cutlery is the enemy at those, and a sharing board also solves the queue, because people graze past it rather than lining up.

BEFORE YOU BOOK
Buffet Catering — your questions answered
How much is buffet catering per person?
From £5.50 a head for Buffet 1, which is freshly prepared sandwiches with eight fillings. Buffet 5 at £7.70 adds savouries, and Buffet 9 at £11.00 is the full spread with crisps, fruit, cake and juice. Nine buffets in all, every price published, and none of it needs a quote.
What is the minimum order for a buffet?
£20 on the order value, which is four people on Buffet 1. There is no minimum headcount as such — if you want a buffet for six, that is a normal order.
How far in advance do I need to order?
By 4pm the day before for anything delivered. The kitchen prepares on the morning it goes out, so a Monday delivery closes at 4pm on the Friday. Anything cooked on site — hog roast or barbecue — needs considerably more notice and a deposit.
Do you deliver and set it up?
Yes, free, and we set it out where you want it. Disposable plates and napkins are included, nothing needs heating or a kitchen at your end, and our driver collects the platters and cool boxes the next working day.
Which buffet should I choose?
Decide about savouries first. Buffets 1 to 4 build sides around sandwiches — crisps, cakes, fruit. Buffet 5 is where sausage rolls, pork pies and quiche arrive, and 6 to 9 build up from there. For a room that has been drinking or working, savouries matter more than variety.
Can you cater for dietary requirements?
Every buffet is 30% vegetarian as standard, before anybody asks. Vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and halal portions are prepared separately and labelled, at no extra charge. Give us the numbers for each when you order.
