Most of what we do at Sheffield weddings is the evening, and that is deliberate. A good number of venues here that insist on doing the wedding breakfast themselves will allow outside catering after it — which is usually where the saving on a Sheffield wedding actually is.

The three points food matters at a Sheffield wedding
The drinks reception, where canapés at £9.80 a head for three keep people going through the photographs. The wedding breakfast, which many Sheffield venues will insist on doing. And the evening, from about half eight, which is the one everybody underestimates.
By nine your daytime guests ate five hours ago and have been drinking since, and your evening guests have come straight from work. It is the last food anybody has and the food people are most obviously hungry for.
Sheffield venues and the outdoor question
City-centre hotels and function rooms are the straightforward ones. The barn and farm venues towards the Peak are where a hog roast comes into its own — from £795 for up to fifty guests, carved as people come.
The thing worth settling early is level ground. Sheffield sites are rarely flat and a hog roast wants about three metres by five that is genuinely level, with cover for the cooking. Send a photograph if you are unsure.

Wedding catering in Sheffield — your questions answered
Can we use you if our Sheffield venue is doing the wedding breakfast?
Very often, yes, and it is worth asking directly. A good number of venues that hold the daytime meal will permit outside catering for the evening, and that is usually where the saving is. One phone call settles it.
How many should we cater for in the evening?
Your evening list plus a good share of the daytime guests, who by then have not eaten since the breakfast. Most couples order for around 70 to 80% of the room, and being slightly over beats running out at nine o'clock.
When do we confirm numbers?
Seven days before, and you can move them freely until then. Evening guests are the hardest list at any wedding because so many stay maybes until the final week.
Do you cover Rotherham and the Peak villages?
Yes, and there is no travel charge. Rotherham sits on the same round as east Sheffield, and the Peak venues west of the city are well within our range.
What about a hog roast instead of a buffet?
From £795 for up to fifty guests. It is the better evening at a barn or farm venue with somewhere covered for the cooking, and it needs a good deal more notice than a buffet — a Sheffield Saturday in summer wants booking a year out.
Do you set up and clear away?
We set out where you want it and cover it until you are ready. For a delivered buffet we do not stay, and our driver collects the platters and cool boxes the next working day, so the morning after is not somebody's job.
