How a Sheffield barbecue works
We arrive an hour and a half before your service time and set up in about three metres by five of flat ground with no steps to the serving area. Service runs an hour and we say when it is coming to an end so people can go back.
Disposable plates and napkins are included. Fifty guests is the minimum, or the equivalent booking value, under that a delivered buffet from £5.50 a head is better value and we will say so.
Where we barbecue around Sheffield
Business parks around Meadowhall and the Airport Business Park, the universities, cricket and rugby clubs across the city, and gardens through Ecclesall, Dore and Nether Edge.
Rotherham sits on the same run at no extra charge. The Peak-edge venues west of the city suit a barbecue well: there is space and usually cover, which is more than most city gardens offer.
One Sheffield-specific point worth making: the wind. Gardens on the west and north of the city sit high and exposed, and a grill that is fine in a Nottingham back garden will struggle on an open hillside in anything above a stiff breeze. We can screen it, but it is far easier if the setup point is somewhere with a wall or a hedge behind it, and that is worth a moment when you are deciding where the food goes.

How much is BBQ catering in Sheffield?

Will my garden be flat enough?
It is the question we ask most often in Sheffield, because so many gardens here run downhill. We need roughly three metres by five that is level, with no steps to where people are served. A photograph settles it in a minute.
Do you cover Rotherham?
Yes, and free. It is on the same round as the eastern side of Sheffield. The Peak villages west of the city are workable too; send the postcode and we will confirm.
How much notice do you need?
More than for a delivered buffet, because the chefs and the grills come to you and cook on the day. Allow weeks, and a summer Saturday wants booking considerably earlier than that, those dates go first. Midweek is far easier and costs exactly the same.
Is there a minimum number?
Fifty guests or the equivalent booking value, and we hold to it here more firmly than elsewhere because of the distance. Below fifty, a delivered buffet from £5.50 a head is the sensible answer.
What if the weather turns?
The grill is under cover and carries on. Your guests are the issue, and an exposed garden on the west side of Sheffield is genuinely different from a sheltered one: be honest with yourself about which you have before booking outdoors.
