Every hog roast this company cooks anywhere sets off from Watnall Road. For Hucknall that means the shortest possible gap between the kitchen and the event, and it changes what is possible on the day rather than what is possible on paper: a forgotten table, an extra twenty rolls, a chef needed half an hour earlier than planned.
Most Hucknall roasts are gardens, clubs and halls. Hucknall Town FC, the John Godber Centre, the cricket and bowls clubs, and the bigger back gardens out towards Butler’s Hill and Broomhill. Titchfield Park events and village functions at Linby, Papplewick and Bestwood Village make up much of the rest.
Newstead Abbey and Papplewick Pumping Station are both within a few minutes, and both are grounds where a roast carved in the open does far more for the day than anything brought in under foil.
What the day looks like
The hog goes on hours ahead. We arrive about an hour before your service time, set up where you tell us and carve to order across a full hour, so guests eat when they are ready. Everything is cleared away afterwards and you are left with the room.
We need roughly three metres by five of level ground with no steps between the machine and where people will eat, and somewhere to park close enough to unload. Water and electricity help if they are there and are not needed.
Served in fresh bread rolls with apple sauce, sage and onion stuffing and crackling. Pulled BBQ jackfruit cobs are the standard vegan main, with gluten-free, dairy-free and halal portions prepared separately.

Can you do a hog roast at short notice here?
It is worth ringing, which is not something we would say about everywhere. The kitchen is in the town and the limit is usually whether a hog can be sourced in time and whether the date is already taken.
Do you cover Linby, Papplewick and Newstead?
Yes, and Bestwood Village, Annesley, Watnall, Nuthall, Kimberley and Eastwood. It is the shortest run we make.
How much space is needed?
About three metres by five that is reasonably level, with no steps between the machine and the eating area. Grass is fine. Send a photo of where you are thinking and we will confirm it.
What is the vegan option?
Pulled BBQ jackfruit cobs, served as a main in their own right alongside the hog. Gluten-free, dairy-free and halal-sourced portions are prepared separately and clearly labelled.
Is fifty guests really the minimum?
A hog feeds what it feeds, so thirty guests pay the up-to-fifty price and take a good deal home. It is not a rule so much as a point where a buffet usually gives you more for the money, and we will say so.
