Where the business began
Sadlergates started in Derby in 2012 and the city is still where most of our work is. That is not a marketing line to bolt a location page onto: it is the reason the Derby round is the one that runs every day, the reason we know which Pride Park buildings need a name at reception, and the reason a good number of the accounts we deliver to now were also delivered to in the first couple of years.
What that means practically is that a Derby buffet is not a special trip. An order placed by 4pm one afternoon is on a table the next morning, freshly made that day.
Buffets for Derby offices
Most of what we deliver in Derby is working catering: team meetings, training days, client visits, inductions and the standing weekly order. The business parks along the A52 and around Pride Park are the busiest (RTC, Wyvern, Riverside, Aspen and Ascot Drive) along with Royal Derby Hospital and the University of Derby.
The nine numbered buffets are built for that kind of ordering. Buffet 1 is sandwiches at £5.50. Buffet 5 adds savouries at £7.70. Buffet 9 is the full spread with crisps, fruit, cake and juice at £11.00. Every one is 30% vegetarian before you ask, and the complete contents are on the sandwich buffet menu.
For anything bigger there are hot buffets at £23.50 a head with a fifty-person minimum, breakfast from £3.35 delivered between 8am and 9am, and grazing boards at £97.00 a crate serving ten for a launch or a reception.
Where we deliver in Derby
The city centre, Pride Park, Spondon, Alvaston, Chaddesden, Oakwood, Allestree, Darley Abbey, Mickleover, Littleover, Sinfin and out to Borrowash, and well past all of them, into Ilkeston, Belper, Duffield, Ashbourne and Burton.
Delivery is free across all of it on orders over £20. Offices, business parks, schools, halls, clubs and private houses, and if the building needs a driver’s name in advance, tell us when you order.
Parties, wakes and weekends
The same buffets go to christenings, birthdays, anniversaries and funeral teas. It is the same food at the same price; a buffet does not cost more because the occasion is a happier one.
Anything cooked on site, such as a hog roast or a barbecue, is booked as an event and quoted on the job, so the buffet cut-off and minimum do not apply to it.

How much is a buffet in Derby?
From £5.50 a head for Buffet 1 up to £11.00 for Buffet 9, with nine options in between. The full contents of each are on the sandwich buffet menu. Delivery is free, there is a £20 minimum on the order and prices exclude VAT.
How long has Sadlergates been in Derby?
Since 2012. Derby is where the business started and it is where we have catered longest.
How much notice do you need?
Order by 4pm for delivery the next working day. A Monday delivery closes at 4pm on the Friday. Hot buffets and anything cooked on site need longer.
Do you deliver to Pride Park and the business parks?
Every working day. RTC, Wyvern, Riverside, Aspen, Ascot Drive and the estates along the A52 are all on the normal round, as are Royal Derby Hospital and the University of Derby.
Can we open a credit account?
Yes. You order through the month and receive one invoice instead of paying by card each time, and anyone in the office can order without needing the company card. Applying takes a few minutes.
Do you cater for dietary requirements?
Every buffet is 30% vegetarian as standard. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and halal portions are prepared separately and labelled. Tell us how many of each when you order.
Is there a minimum order?
£20 on the order value for a delivered buffet, which is four people on Buffet 1. Hot buffets have a fifty-person minimum. Events cooked on site are quoted individually.
Do you collect the platters?
Yes. Our driver collects the cool boxes and empty platters the next working day, so there is nothing to wash and nothing to return.
