Why choose Sadlergates

  • Ready When You Are

Delivered and set out during the service, so the food is waiting rather than being unwrapped while guests stand about.

  • Grown-Ups And Children

A buffet for the adults and a kids option at £8.00 a head, so nobody is picking the salad out of a sandwich.

  • Cake And Desserts

Homemade cakes on the buffet, or a dessert grazing board at £97.00 a crate if you want a proper table.

ABOUT CHRISTENING CATERING

The hour between the church and the party

Christenings have a timing problem that most events do not: everybody is at the service, so nobody is at the venue to receive food, put it out, or let a driver in. That hour is the whole job.

We work around it. Tell us who has a key, or arrange for the venue to let us in, and the buffet is laid out and covered before the first car pulls up. All you do is take the covers off.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

Christening Catering — your questions answered

How many people usually come to a christening?

Most we cater are between 25 and 60, with a good share of those children. Order for adults and children separately — the children's option is £8.00 a head and is food they will actually eat.

How do you deliver while everyone is at the service?

That is the usual situation and we plan for it. Either the venue lets us in, or somebody leaves a key with a neighbour or the hall committee. Tell us the arrangement when you book and we will lay everything out and cover it before you get back.

What time should the food be there?

Usually about fifteen minutes before your guests. Tell us what time the service ends and how far the venue is, and we will work backwards from that.

What food do you do for children?

Jam, cheese, ham and tuna sandwiches, mini pizza, chicken goujons, sausage rolls, chopped fruit and jelly pots, at £8.00 a head. There is a hot option with spaghetti bolognaise or mild curry at £10.50 if you would rather.

Can you do the cake as well?

Homemade cakes are included in several of the buffets, and the dessert grazing board at £97.00 a crate makes a proper cake table — mini doughnuts, waffles, brownies, Victoria sponge, berries and chocolate mousse. We do not make christening cakes themselves.

How much does christening catering cost?

From £5.50 a head for the adults and £8.00 for the children. A typical christening for forty adults and fifteen children on Buffet 5 comes to around £430 before VAT.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

Yes. Every buffet is 30% vegetarian as standard, and vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and halal portions are prepared separately and labelled. Tell us how many of each when you order.

How far in advance should I book?

A delivered buffet needs your order by 4pm the day before, but christenings tend to be planned weeks ahead and booking early means the date is certain. Ring the office whenever you have the date.
